Why we pair an infrared sauna with your colonic

Ask us for our most popular combination and the answer is easy: an infrared sauna followed by colon hydrotherapy. It is so popular that we build it into your very first visit, the sauna is included free. That was a deliberate choice, not a giveaway, and after more than twenty years in clinic we can explain exactly why we designed it that way.

First, the sauna itself

What a sauna session here is like

An infrared sauna does not just heat the air around you. The radiant heat warms your body directly, gently raising your core temperature so you work up a comfortable, satisfying sweat without the harsh, stifling feel of a traditional sauna.

At our clinics it is your own quiet, private time. You settle in, the warmth builds slowly, tension eases out of tired muscles, and the mind goes quiet. Many clients tell us it is the only truly still moment in their week. There is nothing to do and nowhere to be, which is rather the point.

You can read more about the experience on our infrared sauna page, and it is lovely entirely on its own. But it is even better as a warm-up act.

Client relaxing in the infrared sauna before a colon hydrotherapy session

Why sauna first

A relaxed body makes for a more comfortable colonic

This is the practical heart of it, and it is something we noticed in clinic long before we made it official.

You arrive settled, not tense

Most people are a little nervous before a colonic, especially a first one. Twenty minutes of gentle warmth takes the edge off in a way no waiting-room chair ever could. You walk into your treatment already relaxed.

Warm muscles, easy breathing

The radiant heat loosens tight shoulders and an anxious, held-in tummy. A body that is warm and loose simply finds the treatment more comfortable than one that is braced and cold.

The visit feels like a treat

Starting with the sauna turns a health appointment into something closer to a spa morning. Clients leave the whole visit feeling cared for, not processed. That matters to us.

We talk comfort and relaxation here on purpose. These are wellness treatments, not medical ones, and we make no medical claims about either.

The one rule

Hydration matters when you do both

A sauna makes you sweat, and a colonic involves water moving through the bowel, so doing both in one visit means your body deserves a little extra care with fluids. It is not complicated. Drink a good amount of water in the hours before you arrive, and keep sipping afterwards for the rest of the day.

We build the rest in for you. Every colonic at our clinics finishes with an electrolyte drink and a probiotic, so you leave topped up rather than depleted. If you are planning a big gym session or a long day in the sun, maybe save that for tomorrow.

A gentle word

Who should go gently, or check first

  • If you are pregnant or think you might be, please speak with your GP before booking either treatment
  • If you have a heart condition or another significant medical condition, check with your GP first
  • If you are feeling unwell on the day, call us and reschedule, the sauna and your body will both wait
  • Unsure about anything? Tell your therapist at your consultation, that is exactly what it is for

Ways to combine them

The packages that pair sauna and colonic

You never need to work out the combination yourself. We have already bundled the ones people love.

Your first visit, $145

Consultation, colon hydrotherapy, a free infrared sauna worth $45, and a probiotic to take home. All-inclusive. Booked separately the same visit would be $165, so the pairing genuinely is built in.

Feel Good, $145

An infrared sauna plus a colonic. The classic pairing this whole article is about, at the same price as a first visit.

Feel Great, $295

A sauna or foot detox, a colonic, and a 60-minute massage. The unhurried version, for when you want to give yourself a proper half day.

Day programs

Our detox cleanse programs weave saunas and colonics into a full guided day or more: the 1 Day Refresh at $460, the 3 Day Revive at $1,320, and the 5 Day Reset at $2,150.

Every price, including sauna-only sessions and multi-session packs, is on our pricing page.

Two clinics, one idea

The same warm welcome, both sides of Sydney

You will find the sauna-and-colonic pairing at both of our clinics: Caringbah in the Sutherland Shire, an easy trip from Cronulla, Miranda and Sylvania, and Newport on the Northern Beaches, close to Mona Vale, Avalon and Collaroy. Both are by private appointment only, so it is only ever you in the space. If it is your first time, our walkthrough of what to expect at your first session covers the whole visit minute by minute.

Good questions

Sauna and colonic, answered

Should I have the sauna before or after the colonic?
We recommend before. Arriving warm, loose and unhurried makes a real difference: a relaxed body makes for a more comfortable colonic, and clients who sauna first consistently tell us the treatment feels easier. If your day only works the other way around, just let us know and we will arrange it.
How long is the infrared sauna session?
Long enough to warm through gently and work up a proper, comfortable sweat, without ever feeling rushed. We fit the sauna around your colonic appointment, so ask us when you book and we will let you know the timing for your visit.
Can I just have the sauna on its own?
Absolutely. A single infrared sauna session is $45, or you can buy packs: 3 sessions for $125, 6 for $210, or 12 for $360. Many clients pop in just for the sauna, especially through winter.
Is the sauna included with every colonic?
It is included free with your first visit, and it is built into our Feel Good and Feel Great packages. On other visits you can add a sauna to your colonic for the normal sauna price.
Is it safe to do a sauna and a colonic on the same day?
For most healthy adults, yes, and it is exactly how we run first visits. The main thing is hydration: drink water before and after, and your colonic finishes with an electrolyte drink. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition or feel unwell on the day, please check with your GP first or reschedule.
